About the Client:

Our customer is a US-based organization that has been providing training for complex behavioral challenges for more than 20 years across the U.S. and Canada in 3 levels: Master Trainer, Trainer, and Specialist.

Master Trainers provide training to the employees of different organizations, and the employees, after completing the training successfully, are called Trainers. After successfully completing the training, these Trainers go back to their respective organizations and train other employees called Specialists from their organization.

Challenges:

The requirement was to create a Salesforce Community Portal where the Trainers are supposed to log in and enter the training details conducted by them to train the Specialists.
They also wanted to create an event registration portal in Salesforce where employees can easily register themselves for the event and purchase related products online.

  • Manage Master Trainers, Trainers, and Specialists data

  • Automate the process flow

  • Reduce complexities in reporting and event registration

Our Solution:

We divided the training and learning application into two parts:

Event Registration: It is a public registration and shopping site where Trainers register for Trainer trainings to get certified in the selected course.

Trainer Connect: It is a Salesforce Community Portal where the Trainers log in and enter the training details conducted by them to train the Specialists.

The event registration and shopping site was created with the VF page. Users must select a specific course. After selecting the course, the user has to fill in the participant’s details as well as billing contact details. The user can also add training-related products to the cart. For payments, we integrated the PayPal payment gateway with Salesforce using REST API. We created custom objects and fields and backfilled their existing data in Salesforce using Data Loader and Workbench.

The community portal was completely redesigned with Salesforce Communities, Lightning Experience, and Lightning Components. We created custom tabs using the Lightning Component for internal trainer registration. We also implemented Workflow Rules and Process Builders to handle training automation in Salesforce, such as sending emails and updating fields. To notify the Trainer about the number of trainings they conducted in a month, we integrated Mandrill MailChimp with Salesforce using REST API for email automation.
